What Would Jesus Do? (during COVID-19) WWJD?
So many voices, so many conflicting opinions. It is overwhelming! You can find a Christian leader, a pastor, a theologian, a prophet, etc. etc. who will tell you anything you want to hear right now!
So BE CAREFUL who you are listening to! Be careful and discerning about whose counsel you are heeding! The NT is full of admonitions to exercise discernment, to "beware" of false shepherds and false teachers. I realize there are some well-meaning Christian voices who aren't "false" shepherds/teachers, who are simply giving wrong advice and wrong counsel at this time. They haven't "heard" from God even though they will cite Bible verse after Bible verse to support their opinion.
And that is what much of what people are hearing is - it is simply opinion!
The Church, for the most part, was completely caught off guard by this global pandemic. Much of the Church wasn't prepared. A lot of the teaching wasn't training and equipping people to face a storm! The Charismatic prophetic crowd (a movement that I personally identify with) with a few rare exceptions, completely missed this! They didn't see it coming, they weren't forewarned, and when they did start prophesying (at the beginning of COVID-19), much of what they were saying did not come to pass. In other words, they not only missed it BEFORE, but they are also still missing it now!
But God has been speaking to His Bride. And Jesus often said, "to him who has ears to hear, let him hear".
Any Bible-believing Christian, who knows the life and ministry of Jesus, knows WHERE Jesus would be during this Global pandemic, and knows WHAT He would be doing.
And it would NOT BE "staying at home"! The #stayathome movement was/is driven by fear, by uncertainty and is not a movement that was/is being led by the Spirit. Are there people who for particular reasons should be staying at home? Absolutely. We know who those people are for the most part. The doctors have made that abundantly clear. So don't hear what I am not saying.
But since the beginning of March, we have gone OUT to the people nearly every day - we have gone to people working in restaurants, in markets, and many other open businesses and establishments. We have met people walking on paths and in parks. From security guards, to police officers, to health-care workers, to business owners, to all types of employees - we have been interacting with, praying for, and encouraging people since this crisis began. We have literally ministered to hundreds - and through our encouragement, teaching, preaching, blogs, podcasts, and overall exhortation, I believe thousands have been ministered to through others who have taken up the mandate to be "FEAR Extinguishers" in this hour!
And when we consider the tears, the expressions of thanksgiving, and gratitude from the people we have met, it has undoubtedly been what Jesus would be doing at this time - because it was Him who has been doing it! There is NO DOUBT. It is 100% certain that this is what God wants His people to be doing globally at this time. LOVE the person in front of you. So simply. So neglected.
So for the sake of the Gospel, for the love of God, for the sake of those who are lost and gripped by fear - please be doing what Jesus would be doing in this hour!
And the only regret you will have when this thing is over is not doing what Jesus would be doing and tragically missing the countless divine appointments that God had had for you in this hour.
