"Revaluing the Currency" - Revival Quotes from Leonard Ravenhill (READ AT YOUR OWN RISK)

Yesterday, at a local Christian university, one of the campus pastors gave a message about revival . In her message, she shared a number of quotes from revivalists, many from the late Leonard Ravenhill. It had been years since I'd read anything from Ravenhill and yet, I was convicted yesterday as I heard some of his most notable quotes once again.  Years ago, I had read such Ravenhill classics as, Why Revival Tarries , Meat for Men and Sodom had No Bible . About as radical of stuff as you will ever read! Let's just say that there are many who didn't like the man. (and still don't!)  You are about to see why.  As I read Ravenhill, and as I consider the great moves of God throughout history (and I am a student of revival history), I don't want us to be guilty of "cheapening the currency". The term revival continues to be used by many in reference to things that are simply not revival - not in a historical sense. My camp, the charismatic one, is the guilties...

The Power of the Lord was present to heal (Luke 5:17) - an insight into Words of Knowledge

"...the power of the Lord was present to heal" (Luke 5:17) This verse is interesting. What exactly does it mean? How was Jesus aware that "the power of the Lord" was present in a unique way? Jesus was fully God and fully man at all times. So there couldn't have been a time in the life of Jesus when the power of the Lord was not present as wherever the Lord Jesus was, so was His full deity.  This verse must therefore be something for us. Jesus lived a life for us that He intended us to model. Jesus was a man upon whom the Holy Spirit came at His Baptism. He lived a life as one being "led by the Spirit" at all times. He was a man upon whom the Holy Spirit was given "without measure". As I read this verse this morning, I was thinking, "How do I know when "the power of the Lord is present to heal"? Yes, there are times when I can feel something like electricity in my hands especially when we have had healing services in the past. T...

DEATH TO SELF - a message that God is ALWAYS emphasizing - are we listening? are we obeying?

This post comes from another one of my blogs Keto4Christians  Link - But I felt urged to repost it here. Why? Because we are in a desperate hour in our nation and globally. An interesting convergence of events has been happening - the Asbury Revival 2023, the start of Lent, the start of the Global Jesus Fast, the release of the Jesus Revolution movie - and then in the natural, the strongest set of winter storms since 1989 according to the media have been hitting California, where the Jesus People Movement was birthed in the late 1960s/early 1970s.  Here's my blog post - worth the read if only to get the quotes from Thomas à Kempis' The Imitation of Christ. Yesterday (Sunday) was a non-fasting day. Today, I'm back in the saddle. And in many ways, the marathon begins on Day 5 because the first fast part of Lent (Ash Wednesday till the 1st Sunday) is a 4-day fast. From here on out, for those who are fasting Lent without food, the fasts are 6 days (Mondays-Saturdays). I got t...
