Fasting is a way that we are trained in godliness. When one considers the days in which we are living you would think Christians would be employing each and every weapon that God has given us to deal with the challenges being faced as this time There has been  an explosion of overt demonic and occult practices and influences. What used to be hidden is now open and mainstream.  The kinds of temptations that we face are unlike any other in the history of mankind. No other generation ever had to face what is currently available via the internet and through technology.  Anybody over a certain age who walks through a pharmacy today knows that just a few years ago you would have had to go to an adult bookstore and/or some type of 'specialty' store to buy what is now on the shelves of Walgreens and CVS Pharmacies! What do we do? Today was a day that I should have been exhausted. Up at 4:30AM. Drove nearly 2 hours to ski in the morning. Drove 2 hours home. Turned around and had an event in the evening. No rest. No nap. 3 cups of coffee throughout the day. And yet I was full of energy. How come? Sometimes fasting days can be easy. Today was one of those days - both physically and mentally. So much so that I seemed to forget I was even fasting.  These types of days are awesome! I am reminded of the famous Bob Dylan song, "Knocking on Heaven's Door". Unfortunately, Dylan got it wrong. The reality is, we don't knock on heaven's door when it comes to heavenly visitations (i.e. an angelic encounter). Heaven knocks on our door.  Don't misunderstand me too soon - of course we can seek the Lord. We can and should pray about everything and even as the Scriptures exhorts us to do, to pray without ceasing (1 Thes. 5:16). God's Word exhorts us to seek, to knock and to ask. And that pursuit is directed to the Lord Himself and Him alone. And then HE will direct matters with regards to sending angels or taking a believer to heavenly places.  But when an angel is sent to a believer, or when a Christian is "caught up" (2 Cor. 12:4) it has been because God has initiated the encounter, experience. We are not the initiators.  So, why is the subject of initiation in heavenly encounters even relevant today?  1. Because of a lot of Charismat
