encountering God as we 'rested in Christ'

Last night was powerful. A group of us gather to seek the Lord weekly and the meeting began with a heightened level of expectation. Isaac of Ninevah led us in a powerful teaching based out of Greg Boyd's book, "Seeing is Believing" (a book about how we can encounter God, hear from God, receive healing as we learn to, as Boyd calls it, 'Rest in Christ').

Throughout the evening many prophetic experiences were had - as we corporately were positioning ourselves for Resting in Christ, the Lord opened up many different pictures, visions and spoke clearly to many in the room. One Indian sister had her very first visionary experience (part of her Acts 2 inheritance!).

I know I can get very focused on the 'gifts' that God releases to His children (or anything God is doing for that matter). As we all positioned ourselves to simply 'rest in Christ', it was ALL about connecting with God and encountering Him personally. Intimacy with Him was the focus.

From that place, the gifts began to flow naturally. They were the 'fruit' of that time of intimacy. It isn't a bad thing to be reminded of this (I only need such a reminder about 5 times a day!)

"spilling" while we're out - the K of G comes

Last night and today, Desert Princess and I have had some opportunties to pray for people when we were out and the Lord touched a couple of people.

In a restaurant yesterday, after I got a word of knowledge for a back condition, Desert Princess asked the server if she had that problem. She did. Desert Princess asked if she could pray and the woman agreed. After prayer all the pain was gone from her back.

Today while out again, I got a couple of words of knowledge while passing a mobile phone shop. I asked one of the employees if he had the conditions the Lord had shown me (also asked the 2 customers he was serving). None of them had those problems, but he directed me to another employee who he thought had one of the conditions I was asking about.

It turned out that this man had pain in both of the places I had gotten the words for - and his lower back (right hand side) was bothering him at that very time. I prayed for that and all the pain left. He had a more uncomfortable condition in the middle of his upper back. I prayed for that twice and after the 2nd time, all the pain left. This Muslim shopkeeper was surprised. I gave him my card and encouraged him to call me with any other needs he would have for healing. I will visit him again soon to speak in more detail about a Kingdom that comes in power and demonstration!

Coffee, tea, cigarettes, the Kingdom, and a side of Shuba

Last night, DJ and I had the opportunity to minister to three guys at once. One guy had had an accident and we went after his injuries, but we didn't want to leave them without ministering to them prophetically as well. Now, let me back up for a second. I knew we were going to pray for this guy with a broken leg and, to be honest, I didn't have a lot of faith for the leg. As I was getting ready, I felt the Lord saying," Don't worry about the faith for the leg, DJ has it covered; go after the prophetic." After He told me that, my heart moved from a low form of unbelief to a higher excitement about bringing the Kingdom. Let's face it: not everyone is sick, but everyone can use a little encouragement. As DJ was praying for the leg, I began asking the Lord what He had for these guys around me.

For one "AZ,", I got the following words: likes to fix cars, good with hands, and loyal. It s out that the only one of the words that was one from that batch, was the loyal word. Along with loyalty, I also felt that he was a good secret keeper and he confirmed that as well.

For another, A1, I got the words: curious, lost a close relative and it still affects you, has a special box in his room where he keeps pictures, loves learning languages. Turns out that he had lost an uncle 7 years ago and it still affected him a lot-- to the degree he still carries a picture of him in his wallet. Moreover, he confirmed that he had a special box in his room where he kept pictures AND that he loved languages. Finally, he confirmed he was curious about learning new things, too.

The last guy, A2: It was hard for me to get a lot for him for some reason. I'm not sure why. He was the most talkative of the bunch, but I did get a few. I felt like he had a good eye for pictures and he confirmed this was so.

After I gave my first round of words, some off, most on, A2 asked me if I had any more. So, I told him to wait a few minutes and I would ask the Lord what else He had in mind for them. From that point on, I felt like something shifted. I felt like the Lord was leading me to tell them their gifting (a clue to their destiny) that He had given them. I felt like the earlier words sowed the seed to receive the declarations. Therefore, I went into round two.

Beginning again with AZ, I told him he was like a bear and that he had a kind spirit, was slow to anger, and a pillar in his family. I went on to add that his family looked to him as much as to his father in time of need. He nodded vigorously at all of these words and told me that his parents were divorced and that left him in a leadership role in his family. I went on to tell him that his gifting was in the area of justice and that he had a heart to see justice for all people.

On to A1, I told him that he was a great helper and lifter of spirits. I told him further that he carried burdens well and that he cheers sad people up with his presence. I finished by telling him that he carries peace on his shoulders and that he should develop the gift God gave him.

Finally, for A2, I told him that I saw him leading groups of people and teaching them. I told him that I felt like the Lord had gifted him with the ability to impart enthusiasm to others and that he should also develop this gift as well.

At the end of the night, I think all of them were very encouraged. In fact, I was pretty encouraged myself because I have never prophesied over 3 people AT THE SAME TIME in a crowded cafe AND hit a pretty high percentage of the words at the same time as well.

One of the main differences (aside from the obvious ones), I think, between the psychic who "reads people's mail" by being observant or demonically inspired and the prophetic minister is this: there is a line where the psychic can ony tell you things about you and about what might happen to you-- he/she has no power to declare and create new realities in that person's life by the spoken word inspired by the Living God. At one point last night, I quit caring about whether or not the word was on or if the person thought it was good: I was declaring it to be so because my Dad told me to and in declaring it, brought it forth. AZ might not have given a rip about justice, but when he left last night he did. A1 might not have thought he was a lifter of spirits, but when he left he was. A2 might not have believed me when I told him that he could give away enthusiasm, but when he left, he most certainly could if he wanted.

O, that God has given such gifts to men!

Upping the Ante

man with broken leg has kingdom encounter

Tonight Isaac of Ninevah and I were able to meet with a group of Palestinian Muslim men, one of whom had a broken leg that I had met the previous night.

When I met this man, I simply gave him my card and asked him, "would you like to get off those crutches and walk normally". At that time, he didn't have any idea where I was coming from. However, the question must have provoked him, because by the time I got home, there was an email from him waiting for me - he wanted to meet me the following night if possible.

As we began to talk, we shared testimonies of people who were healed of broken bones and even the incredible cases where God miraculous disolved or removed steel rods/pins from people's bodies.

After a while, I was able to lay hand on him and pray for his leg. He began to feel the presence of the Lord in the leg - at one point coldness moving through the area where the bone was broken. During a subsequent time of prayer, I began to feel what God was doing in a certain part of his leg, and he confirmed that at the same time in the same location he could feel something definitely happening. On a 3rd occasion of prayer he felt even more of God moving upon his leg.

While praying the Lord revealed a couple of other things through words of knowledge. Isaac was also getting a bunch of prophetic revelation for he and his two friends at the same time (I'll let him blog those testimonies). The Lord showed me that his heart had been recently broken - which he confirmed when he told us that he broke up with his girlfriend because she was in love with his friend. Also, the Lord showed me a shoulder condition he had and he let me pray for that too.

This Thursday he will again go to the Hospital for x-rays and I told him to call me right away to let me know what the Lord had done in answer to prayer.

I should add that at NO TIME during the nearly two hours we spent with these Muslim men did they argue with us, contradict us, give us the "Islamic viewpoint" - nothing like that whatsoever. They simply RECEIVED all the Kingdom ministry we were bringing to them. May we meet many more like them!!!

Indian man touched after word of knowledge

As I was praying for an Indian man, the Lord gave me a word of knowledge for a problem in his ear. I asked him if he had a problem there. He did. I prayed for the Kingdom to come and all the pain/discomfort immediately left his ear.
