Are we acting like "unbelieving" believers? Something to consider in the face of the Corona Virus (COVID-19) Pandemic

It is in times of trouble that we see what our faith is made of.  You don't know what we have until it is tested.  Faith is no different than anything else.

Psalm 91 is one of the most famous passages in the Bible.  But it is in a time like this that we find out if we REALLY believe in God's promises and what His Word says.

I've highlighted/underlined some of the relevant verses in Psalm 91 for us to consider - Do we BELIEVE this?

1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” 3 For He will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence. 4 He will cover you with his pinions, and under His wings you will find refuge; His faithfulness is a shield and buckler. 5 You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day, 6 nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor the destruction that wastes at noonday. 7 A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. 8 You will only look with your eyes and see the recompense of the wicked. 9 Because you have made the Lord your dwelling place - the Most High, who is my refuge 10 no evil shall be allowed to befall you, no plague come near your tent. 11 For He will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. 12 On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone. 13 You will tread on the lion and the adder; the young lion and the serpent you will trample underfoot. 14 “Because he holds fast to me in love, I will deliver him; I will protect him, because he knows My name. 15 When he calls to me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him. 16 With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.”

Like everything in life, we don't know what we possess until it is tested.  And in a time like this, globally, many Christians are being tested.

Maybe we are trusting God and not giving into fear at this time.  I see Christians who are I believe are truly trusting God at this time and believing in His promises to protect us.  At the same time, I see other Christians who are succumbing to fear and even panic.

So if you are trusting God, keep it up. One Christian leader who I respect believes that this outbreak is only a "dress rehearsal" and believes that this particular Corona Virus (COVID-19) will not amount to much. That we should not be too concerned about it. But that what lies ahead will be far more serious.  And so God wants to see what is in His people at this time?

And if you are one who is struggling with fear?  Be honest with God and your Christian friends.  Pray, "Lord, I believe but help my unbelief". That's a legal prayer to pray!  Let us meditate on Psalm 91, especially the highlighted/underlined parts above - let God build our faith.  Many of us haven't had to trust God in the area of protecting our health.  It is a time to grow...a time to build up our faith muscle in this area.  Especially if this is only a "dress rehearsal" for things that we will face in the future.  For such a time as this...
