Humility attracts heaven!
There might not be a simpler "formula" to see God work, to see His Kingdom released, than to humble ourselves. It isn't a popular option. It doesn't seem to sell books, get someone on the conference circuit, but humility is arguably the greatest single key to revival, to the miraculous, to the advancement of God's Kingdom in any and every area.
What does God's word say? "...for God gives GRACE to the humble" - it originates in Proverbs 3 and is taken up in the New Testament in BOTH 1 Peter 5 and James 4.
But the reality is, we don't often live like this.
Rather we prefer...God gives GRACE to (in other words, He blesses/empowers/enables...)
the educated
the relevant
the connected
the skillful
the competent
the confident
the articulate
the polished
the (fill in the blank)
God may use us with or without any of the aforementioned things, but He won't use us if we are proud. That might be the most convicting and non-believed teachings in all of the Scriptures...it isn't just that He gives grace to the humble, but He OPPOSES the proud!
How much will we accomplish if God Himself is opposing us?? We know the devil and his fallen angels oppose us. We know that demons oppose us. We know that all those who are controlled by the forces of the kingdom of darkness oppose us.
But do we really believe that God can/will oppose us? The evidence as to how we live suggests that this could be the last thing on our minds.
We long for God's grace, His divine enablement...but will we do the most important thing to receive what we are longing for? Will we humble ourselves? Will we admit our weakness? Will we open up to those around us about our struggles? Our doubts? Our fears?
If we will and if we do, we will see heaven invade our lives and ministries! We will see the answers to prayer that have been forthcoming! We will see the power of God poured out!
Is this the secret? I believe so.
