"Hyper-Grace" FALLACIES - Philippians 3:12

We've dealt with "Hyper-Grace" teachers and teaching before in this blog. But this false teaching continues to be prevalent within the Body of Christ. 

Hyper-Grace teaching can only be supported by 'cherry picking' verses out of the NT and then doing some heterodox exegesis of other passages (i.e. 1 John 1:8).

NO ONE would ever come to the conclusions of Hyper-Grace teachers if they read through ALL of the New Testament, considering the "whole counsel" of the Apostolic deposit. And you won't find a single Christian theologian, apologist, or leader in the early centuries of the church that would support the conclusions of the modern Hyper-Grace teachers. NOT ONE! That alone should disturb any of these teachers who somehow believe they have unlocked the original Apostolic teaching that somehow got lost for nearly 2000 years!

Today the Lord highlighted Philippians 3:12 again to me and the Apostle Paul completely dismantles the Hyper-Grace teachers in a single verse.

Philippians 3:12 - Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own.

HOW? Because TO THE PERSON, Hyper-Grace teachers believe we are NOW perfect, and do not ever need to ask forgiveness for sin again. They do not believe that sanctification is a process. And in 1/2 of a single verse in the Book of Philippians, the Apostle of Grace himself undermines a core teaching/doctrine in the Hyper-Grace movement. Sure, they have 'an answer' to Philippians 3:12. They have a heterodox exegesis of the verse. They "reinterpret" it and do their theological gymnastics to explain it away. And once again they are wrong, they have presented dangerous false teaching that in the name of "Grace" has actually caused many to fall back into sin and even to fall away entirely from the faith. 

The Apostle Paul is undoubtedly the most misused, misquoted, abused of all the New Testament's authors.
