Dan Mohler on a false grace message being taught today
Dan Mohler (a balanced Grace teacher) has a great quote directed at those distorting the "grace message" - well said by one of the Body of Christ's greatest true Grace teachers!
"There's a movement of grace out there right now that is perverting the grace message; that's just saying "It's a big party and everybody's O.K."
- YOU'RE O.K. WHEN YOU LOOK LIKE JESUS.
- You are O.K. when the dictates of flesh are so crushed by the Spirit of God in you that they have no voice.
- You're O.K. when you've surrendered in the secret place.
There's a [so-called grace] doctrine that's coming out there. It's really spreading out there. Be careful! It says that men don't have to even repent; they're already saved; there's no hell, [because] God's mercy endures forever. And it's sweeping [the Body of Christ] because people want an easy out without the stewardship of life. They just want to party. Be careful! It will be like in the Days of Noah and they'll be eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage and then the rains will come. It's in your Bible. "But haven't we supped with you? Haven't we walked in the streets with you? Haven't we…" It's not about a party. It's about transformation. It's not about 'easy grace'. It's not about saying, "Well, everything's fine. God knows my heart". No, God knows your life! It [the Bible] says you'll be judged for your deeds, for your life before Christ, not your heart BECAUSE YOUR HEART REVEALS YOUR LIFE! It's a cop out. My life lived IS my heart revealed. Hello. I'm not being mean right now; I'm being realistic. I'm being real. Come on, Jesus talked like this because He loved us enough. He says, 'You're either for me or your against me. You're either gathered to me or your scattered'…"
I love Dan Mohler however I cannot find who these "grace preachers" are that he and others are talking about? Are they actually grace preachers or just preachers that have different ideas from the main stream and not actually grace preachers at all? Cn you help?
ReplyDelete@Phil - why don't you fire me off an email at joel2generation@gmail.com and I'll respond to your questions. This topic is being hotly debate in different quarters of the Charismatic Church. It is this context that Dan Mohler is speaking into, not some of the other contexts (like Reformed Christians) where the term "Grace teacher" is also commonly used.
ReplyDeletePhil , one well-known preacher teaching the false grace doctrine discussed in this article is Joseph Prince.
ReplyDeleteAre you sure you know what you're talking about, anon? If so, detail what it is that Joseph Prince is saying that is wrong, according to scripture..if not , than you have only a vague general critism without any basis...
DeleteJoseph Prince certainly does not preach this false doctrine
DeleteI would encourage anyone to read Dr. Michael Brown's book entitled "Hyper-Grace: Exposing the Dangers of the Modern Grace Message". He quotes Joseph Prince extensively showing how Prince is wrong according to Scripture.
ReplyDeletePlease look up Michael Brown's interview with Joseph Prince and his apology for not meeting him before publishing the book.
DeleteI've seen Brown's interview with Prince (and Brown's subsequent comments both written and spoken in the wake of their interactions. I know where they discussed their areas of agreement and also their areas of disagreement. Prince continues to believe/teach that a Christians sins are forgiven the moment they become Christians and that is simply a false teaching. NO ONE in the early Church believed that. Every Early Church father would have considered Joseph Prince's teaching on this point (and his exegesis of 1 John) to be a false teaching at best and heretical at worst. This is beyond dispute.
DeleteLove it,Dan you are awesome continue speaking truth.
ReplyDeleteI love this. Mr.Kohler is on it. True grace requires a repented life. I'm tired of the false teachers misleading people. I encourage everyone to study the word and rightly divide it.Living a righteous life, committed sold out to Jesus reveals his grace and love for we know and understand when we submit to genuine truth of the word. Holy Spirit will teach us if we seek and ask him.For when we really know and encounter Jesus Christ the son of the living God who is full of grace and truth, our lives are transformed to walk in him and his truth in the light of his word. Thanks Dan.
ReplyDeleteThe Lord has used Dan to truly transform my life (Obviously it was Jesus that transformed my life, but He used Dan to really make me 'get it') - I've watched countless Mohler videos and I've heard him say several times, "I'm not looking for a way to sin and get away with it, I'm just enjoying being a son" - what Dan preaches and talks about is truly transforming, in the best of ways. Living for the Lord, understanding your identity, His love for us ... It will be wonderful to see Dan in Heaven and thank him for listening to the Lord and doing what he is doing.
ReplyDeleteThere might be a situation too where Grace is preached and even confession of sins..but there never is mentioned any true repentance. It's like putting the cart before the horse -- never addressing the foundation upon which forgiveness is given after having repented to begin with. (?) ...in as much then..My Life poured out for you for the forgiveness of sins apart from "Deny Yourself, take up your cross, and follow Me" and "He who loves his life will lose it, and he who loses his life on account of Me will find it"..Grace apart from those is like icing on a cake rather than on a clean plate upon which a House can be Built.
ReplyDeleteI recently went to a graduation at a very prestigious seminary college and the president of the school announced all the graduating students as sinners. Just sinners saved by grace. Yes, this oversimplification of the grace of God is very dangerous and will sadly lead allot of unknowing souls to hell.
ReplyDeleteI agree this is a false message of grace but Joseph prince certainly does not preach this false message. Please be careful of slander
ReplyDeleteJoseph Prince does in fact teach a false grace message - he teaches that a believer NEVER has to confess his sin again after they are saved. This is a false teaching that is contradicted by every NT author, by the early church and is a product of an extreme grace teaching that he has. Thankfully Dr. Michael Brown recently met with Joseph Prince and I pray that Prince will repent of the false things he teaches in the name of Grace and returns to the Apostolic understanding.
DeleteActually you are wrong. And if you look up Dr. Michel Brown again he does an article basically apologizing to Joseph Prince. Just look on youtube where Joseph Prince is teaching on Confession.
DeleteHave you seen the article where Dr Bown apologizes to Joseph Prince?
DeleteCheck this out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RpUrua961Nk
You are not correct. Michael Brown apologized to Joseph Prince and said they agree on more than they disagree on.
Deleteyou are not informed entirely on this topic. I have followed carefully everything that Michael Brown has written about (in his books on "Hyper Grace") and in his podcast and blog about Joseph Prince. They have met a couple of times now. I know that they were able to clarify some things and that Dr. Brown has written/spoken about the areas where they are in agreement. But you are completely mistaken to think that somehow Dr. Brown has "apologized" to Joseph Prince as if he (Dr. Brown) has changed his views. It is true that he may have considered Prince to be more extreme than he may now think, but he still contends that Joseph Prince is teaching a false/unbalanced understanding of grace. Prince still teaches that believers never have to confess and/or repent of sin after they are saved. This is a false teaching that is not only unBiblical but was completely unknown in the early church (2nd and 3rd centuries). I assure you that Ignatius, Polycarp, Tertullian, Irenaeus would all consider Prince's teaching to be false. So there is no slander on my side whatsoever.
Deletean article highlighting the details of their most recent meeting - https://www.charismanews.com/opinion/in-the-line-of-fire/62639-my-meeting-with-joseph-prince
DeleteFinally please re-read a lengthy post I did looking at the ENTIRE New Testament where there are dozens of verses that just completely overturn Prince's extreme grace teachings. admittedly there are far more extreme teachers out there, and Michael Brown has rightly highlighted that Prince isn't as extreme as they are, but that doesn't condone the errors that Prince has taught and still teaches. May he walk in the light. If only he would read and prayerfully consider my following blogpost.
Deletehttp://joel2generation.blogspot.com/2013/05/hyper-grace-vs-entire-new-testament.html
Please list those scriptures you claim in context. Michael Brown hoed believes we are positionally forgiven, but we must confess to have relational forgiveness. Which is reading heavly into the words of Jesus and trying to make sense of t to fit his teaching. Also you are wrong that Joseph Prince doesn’t teach repentance. He teaches the true meaning of repentance. He even said grace isn’t a free pass to sin. You clearly don’t listen to him. He said those living in sin are not walking in grace.
DeleteI apologize, I mean they both teach confession in the sense that they aren't confessing to be forgiven, but because they are forgiven.
DeleteTo all my brothers and sisters....its true there is a just grace movement out there....how ever Dan Mohler doesn't teach this. he teaches Truth and grace. sometimes we are so quick to judge and condemn others.. when the word says there is no condemnation for those in Christ. Ive listened to Dan for a while and his teaching is solid because it comes from the word and I encourage all to study out the word and take no one man at his word. its Gods word that matters. I am not trying to offend anyone or correct. but we are here to manifest the glory of God and share his love and look like him. of corse people have to repent. you cant sin and get away with it. but sin is removed once Jesus comes into your life and transforms you. that means your changed you repent and turn from sin and begin to build a relationship with God through Christ. its about us knowing who we are and why he came.
ReplyDeleteand then living the life that Jesus modeled so we become love and manifest it to the world. does sin still temp us, can we fall into sin yes, but we can also avoid it and be free from it. were not condemned if we mess up, we repent and remain a son or a daughter. the bible says that God removes our sin as far as the east is from the west. his desire is to love us and walk us through this life and manifest him.
Christ is our focus, not Dan Mohler or any other person.
I agree - I consider Dan to be a BALANCED Grace teacher. His stuff is amazing and I recommend it to many many people. If the hyper grace teachers would only listen to Dan (and their disciples), that would correct each and every one of them.
DeleteYou do realize dan teaches you don’t have to confess sin right?
Deleteok
ReplyDeleteYou know it is funny how you say how good Dan Mohler's teaching is and how Joseph Prince is false. You do realize Dan Mohler also teaches Christians don't have to confess sin right? Same as Joseph Prince, you do realize they both teach repentance, just maybe not in the way you believe it. Repentance means a change of mind, not turning from sin. Because if it meant the later then people would have to stop sinning to be saved before they are even freed from sin. Yes repentance brings transformation, but that is much different from turning from all your sins an believing on Jesus. Dan and Joseph teach very similar things. They teach different on eternal security though.
ReplyDeleteJoseph Prince was the one doing this and I believe he has since publicly repented for it. I heard it from a lady named Kat Kerr while listening to her podcast.
ReplyDeleteJoseph Prince is not breaking any rules. People have the choice to accept or reject what Pastor Prince says. Its a free world, apart from paying bills & taxes, which even Pastor Prince cannot escape from ! Prince has his Loaves & Fishes ministries, Ustaz Hamdan Bumiputera has the Rendang & Ketupat sermons, Muhamad Abas has his Kebab & Falafel sermons !
