FEAR Extinguishers 2.0 - Others responding to the mandate!
Since the Lord impressed upon us that our mandate at this time was to be "Fear Extinguishers", others have been joining in.
Things are changing so rapidly with new restrictions seemingly coming every day. Fear and anxiety are only heightened in such a climate.
But this is our hour to shine! This is our hour to live out our faith in obedience to God. The Apostle Paul exhorts us "ABOVE ALL clothe yourselves in love" (Col. 3:14).
What could be more loving right now than helping those who are gripped with fear? Helping those who are not looking to the Lord, and those who are not being reminded of His promises and His power?
I am hearing more and more stories, more and more testimonies of others who are joining this mandate to extinguish fear. I am hearing about people in neighboring countries that are seeking to do the same. I was humbled to hear about Chinese believers in the middle of the worst-hit place of the outbreak doing exactly this. Fearless men and women of God, risking their own personal safety for the sake of others. Sounds very Christ-like to me!!
Sadly, millions of Christians globally are listening to "other reports" MORE THAN they are listening to God's voice. We have His written Word which is clear how we should be acting in an hour like this. AND we have His Holy Spirit leading us and speaking to us in this hour as well.
Are we expecting to hear from God? Are we obeying His written Word?
FEAR is NOT an option for the believer. The ONLY "legal" fear that I see in God's Word is the "Fear of the Lord".
All other fear is to be resisted and rejected. We need to repent of it to put it plainly.
Are many struggling? Yes, and we understand that. So what do we do? What should we do? Humble ourselves before the Lord and with the people who God has in your life right now and ADMIT IT! "I'm struggling...I'm fearful...I (fill in the blank).
We will find grace when we humble ourselves..."God GIVES GRACE to...THE HUMBLE"!
I have witnessed in our small community as we continue to seek the Lord together, as we are gathering now in smaller and smaller groups (due to the growing restrictions) - we are overcoming our any our fear and getting our eyes upon the Lord and meditating upon His promises and speaking about His power.
This has been spiritually one of the most engaging and satisfying times in my entire life - everything is being taken away from us and in many ways, the primacy of the Lord in our lives CAN BE on the rise. Out of this horrendous global crisis, God's ascendency in our lives can be the fruit.
Talk about a God who can/is "working all things together FOR GOOD for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose" (Rom. 8:28).
So the assignment is the same - OVERCOME FEAR in your own lives AND THEN assist others to overcome fear in their own lives. This is 100% Biblical AND 100% what God is saying to His people in this hour.
